“Die horison is nooit te vêr, nooit buite bereik nie”
Hier by Horison Seunskoshuis streef ons na die konstruktiewe ontwikkeling van elke seun se karakter en potensiaal. Dit is eerstens van kardinale belang dat ons ‘n hoë akademiese standaard ontwikkel en handhaaf en daarom sal alle inwonende leerders hul mede inwoners ten alle tye in ag neem en erns maak met hul studies. Ons glo dat die seuns, op hul weg na volwassewording, ook geestelik moet ontwikkel. Daar is stiltetye vasgestel sodat leerders die leringe van hul geloof, soos in hul ouerhuise reeds vasgelê, kan oordink en toepas. Huisgodsdiens sal ook op Dinsdagaande gehou word waartydens die leerders en koshuispersoneel hul insigte rakende die Woord met mekaar kan deel en sodoende saam in die geloof kan groei. Die seuns sal ook toegelaat word om “Ignite” byeenkomste by te woon. Daar word dikwels sosiale aktiwiteite saam met Tienerhof Meisieskoshuis gehou. Hierdie geleenthede bied aan die seuns geleentheid tot interaksie om sodoende gesonde, veilige, standvastige en positiewe vriendskapsbande te smee onder toesig van verantwoordelike koshuispersoneel. Rakende kultuur word al die seuns aangemoedig om deel te neem aan die talryke kultuuraktiwiteite, soos musiekblyspele, sang en kreatiewe skryfwerk, wat deur Hoërskool Volksrust aangebied word. Ons streef daarna om eenheid en samehorigheid, deur middel van spanwerk en die koestering van elke inwonende leerder se uniekheid, by die seuns in te burger om ook so aan aangename herinneringe te bou wat vir ‘n leeftyd behoue sal bly.
At Horison Boys Hostel we strive to constructively develop the character and potential of every boy. Developing and maintaining a high academic standard is of the utmost importance which is why resident pupils will respect one another’s study time. We believe that the boys, on their way to maturity, should also develop spiritually. Quiet time is set in order for pupils to reflect and meditate on the teachings of the religion practiced at home. Group Bible study/reflection will also be held on Tuesday evenings during which the pupils and hostel personnel can share their insights on Scripture and grow together in this regard. They are also allowed to attend “Ignite” meetings. Social activities are often held in conjunction with Tienerhof Girls Hostel. This allow the resident pupils of both hostels the opportunity to interact and form healthy, safe, strong and positive bonds under the supervision of responsible hostel personnel. Culturally the boys are encouraged to take part in the various cultural activities, such as drama, singing and creative writing conducted by Volksrust High School. Here at Horison we strive towards unity through teamwork and building on the strengths of every residing individual in order to create lasting and fond memories.
